Lloyd originally resided in Ottawa until moving to Peterborough with his wife Sandra when she accepted a teaching job there.
Lloyd’s trumpet playing started when he was eleven years old. He feels fortunate to have had an excellent trumpet teacher who taught him the fundamentals of classical trumpet playing. This passion for classical trumpet playing led him to play in the Ottawa Youth Orchestra in his youth. Lloyd’s love for music led him to study music at Queens University. He also played in the Naval Reserve National Band for six years in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Lloyd’s busy life raising three children led him to take a fifteen year hiatus from music. Nine years ago, once his children were a bit older, he dusted off his trumpet and auditioned for the PSO. He hasn’t looked back. Lloyd says he enjoys the music of the PSO as well as the friendships he has developed in the orchestra. He says he “loves playing in the PSO because he enjoys the power of beautiful music and playing in an orchestral setting where everyone's part is important.” He feels really lucky to play with so many great players and good friends.
Lloyd works locally at Americredit and he and his wife Sandra are now counting down the years until they can retire to PEI.
