It’s Officially Symphony Week in Peterborough!

31 Jan 2017, Posted by Sarah Lazure in News

Yesterday in Peterborough City Hall Council Chambers, Mayor Daryl Bennett proclaimed January 30 through February 5 “Symphony Week in Peterborough” in front of the media and PSO staff, Board members and supporters.

PSO Music Director & Conductor, Michael Newnham, addressed the group first with a few words about the PSO’s 50-year history in the Peterborough community and the orchestra’s 2016/17 concert season. Mayor Daryl Bennett then made the proclamation before posing for photos with PSO representatives and supporters.

The proclamation marks the beginning of a busy week for the PSO. The orchestra will host and facilitate several events in the community, including the 2017 Intermediate Band Festival, student workshops with Canadian composer Christine Donkin, and a gala concert on Saturday, February 4, Northern Voyage, with guest artists James Raffan, Elizabeth Pitcairn and Unity. Concert tickets are on sale now from the Showplace box office at a cost of $50 each, but they are selling quickly!
