Then arrive to the venue before 6:40pm to Meet the Maestro

The four Main Series concerts of the PSO season (excludes the December holiday concert) offer a chance for audience members to Meet the Maestro, Michael Newnham.

Whether at Showplace Performance Centre or Emmanuel United Church East, doors open to audience members at 6:30pm. As audience members begin to take their seats, the PSO Music Director and Conductor takes the stage at 6:40pm for a ‘behind-the-music chat’ about the evening’s program.

With his characteristic enthusiasm and energy, and using music excerpts, a vast historical knowledge, and stories from his personal experience, Maestro Newnham offers a unique chance for audience members to learn more about the music they will experience during the concert. As examples, Maestro Newnham might explain such things as the inspiration for a composition, the relationship between two composers or their music, particularly interesting instrumentation, or his first experience conducting a piece.

Meet the Maestro is free for all PSO concert ticket holders.
